I woke up one morning in Kimana, Kenya to capture some morning drones shots and still photography. I really wanted Mount Kilimanjaro in the background and with the morning golden light. Some call it the “Shy Mountain” because it is typically covered by the morning clouds. As I was out there I also met this shy young lady pictured here. It was about 7am and she was walking to school. Luckily for me she stopped in front of me as I was taking pictures and posed. Then she continued walking. She didn’t speak a word. Neither did I.

In her left hand is most likely her lunch for the day. Each day she takes this walk alone. She is probably about 7 or 8 years old if that. Her walk is 2-3 hours each way. This is what many do just to get an education because education is their only ticket out of their current reality. I know this series is called, “In My Shoes”, however often times I get a glimpse of what it would be like in theirs.
